Frequently asked questions

Does Quest require an account?

No. Quest has no sign-in or account registration.

Where is my data stored?

Quest keeps data locally on your device. If you enable iCloud Sync, supported data is also synchronized through your private iCloud database. The bundled widget reads and updates a limited shared copy through Apple's App Group storage.

Can I turn iCloud Sync off?

Yes. Open Option and change iCloud Sync. The change takes effect after relaunching Quest. Turning sync off pauses synchronization on that device and does not delete local or existing iCloud data.

How do backup and restore work?

Use Option to export a backup or select a backup to restore. Quest validates the file and previews the changes before it modifies current data. Damaged, unsupported, and other-app files are rejected.

What is included in Copy Diagnostics?

The report contains app and sync status plus privacy-safe aggregate issue counts. It excludes quest titles, backup contents, account and device identifiers, raw MetricKit reports, and stack traces. Nothing is sent automatically.

Why does Quest ask for notification permission?

Quest asks only when a reminder needs notification access. Quests without reminders work without notification permission.

How do I add the widget?

Touch and hold the Home Screen, choose Add Widget, find Quest, select a size, and add it to the Home Screen.

How do I delete a quest?

Use the delete action on the quest and confirm the deletion. Removing the app deletes its local app data, subject to your device backup settings.

How do I report a visual issue?

Email a screenshot and describe which level or screen was visible. Avoid including private quest titles if they contain sensitive information.
